iTrans NYC Subway is an interactive offline map of the MTA subway system. Being that it is offline all its features work even when you are underground.
It has station to station directions for the time of day you specify, allows you to see the current MTA advisories, and even uses the iPhone’s GPS to help you find the nearest station.
I live and work in NYC, and tried many of the subway maps applications, and the one that I always come back to is this one.
